Day 2: Tuck It In

Day 2 of the 21 Day Challenge

The theme today is Tuck It In. Tucking is decidedly not my forte. Even when I was young and Mom wanted my shirt tucked in so I would look all spiffed up for the 80s, I was bad at it. Today's picture proves the same thing. Since I figured I couldn't handle it all day, the tuck was admittedly only for the picture. I actually sat on the floor of my closet this morning, trying to think of something I could tuck. It almost made me late for my early meeting.

Oh and those are the alstromerias I bought today. Along with rootbeer, chocolate chip cookies, and something to pedi my summer heels. Pampered myself!

I absolutely love her when she smiles

I have a green pea coat. My mom bought it for me for Christmas, and we found it on mega discount at Old Navy. It was meant to be. It's kind of a Kelly green, which I love. What am I saying? I love green in most any shade. Hence my green work bag too, that I took with me to Sweden and Germany.

Well, it's Saint Patty's day, and I have no Irish ancestry whatsoever. Not detered by that, I still hitched up my green and headed to the office. I think I might be the only one in really bright green, but I have seen a lot of sage and olive around today. Maybe I can pretend I'm Irish.

I have an adorable sticker one of my coworkers gave me years ago, and it's still on my desk. It's a heart with shamrocks around it that says "I love the Irish" on the inside of the heart. She scratched out "the", and now it says "I love Trish!" How awesome is that! I guess I can be Irish since we share 4 letters of our name.

Type 1ness of the day: Oh the sun! It's been so dark the last few days with rain and overcast skies, but I am a sunshine addict! I truly am. I curl up in the sun like a cat, and go outside just to walk around in the tulips when the sun is out. It totally brightens my mood :).

Oh, and PS, this is the second time this week I've worn something tied around my waist. I think we might be on to something here. I could still use some practice on the scarf technique.

(Still need a haircut.)

You've Got to Roll with the Punches to Get to What's Real

It is bitterly cold outside, and windy. Welcome to February. Yesterday I froze, wearing my green pea coat all day at my desk. Today I decided to bundle up with a zip-up fleece jacket, and then my coat and scarf. It literally saved me, because the weatherman said the wind is making it feel like -5 degrees Fahrenheit out there. And me - I don't get to wear pants to work.

Yesterday I couldn't find my box of panty hose I had purchased, with 3 unworn pairs still inside. After many panty hose adventures, I was able to discover that buying a box of 4 "L'eggs Everyday" panty hose are relatively comfortable, cheap, and seem to last a while too. And the nude color is close enough that sometimes, I don't seem to even be wearing them! A big success in the panty hose department there. I think I bought my box of them at Walgreens, by the way.

There's actually not a lot of pop to this outfit like there should be. I supposed I could wear some gold jewelry to take it up a notch, but my current gold jewelry, except for my flower necklace and springy bracelet, has been worn too much and all that expensive "gold" has worn off. I need to find some different gold jewelry that I like and doesn't weigh too much. In the mean time, no pop for today, except for maybe my great hair. Or the hot pink fleece jacket I'm wearing around the office so that I don't turn into a popsicle.

Type 1ism of the day: Last night my best friend and I had a hilarious evening. She's also a Type 1, and lives a few doors down from me. We sat on her couch, both on our laptops, watching the Food Network, eating fun foods, and posting ridiculous messages on each others' Facebook pages. Then we would proceed to laugh and snort out loud, unrestrained and thoroughly entertained. It was a great night. :)

See my boots? I wanted to show them to you!

Here I'm dancing on the ground Am I right side up or upside down?

I mentioned the whole blowdrying issue I've been having. After a few more days of it, I think I really am actually improving at it. I really liked my hair today, and although neither of today's pictures really scream "AWESOME hair," that's how I was feeling today. Yep. Awesome hair.

This shirt is perfect-o for my 1/3 nature. The fact that it's Type 1 colors, and then has just a little edginess to its pattern, which still has roundness to it, I think, is totally perfect. My mom got it for me for my birthday (I did pick it out myself, which is always a plus). I just love it. The saddest part is that after a few washes it started to pill on the outside of the shirt, which makes the brown appear to be not as dark. Oh well. I'll wear it until it's time to retire, and then it will go away, I suppose. Oh, did I mention this shirt has a natural wrinkly texture? Looooove that.

Type 1ism of the day: I love random work assignments. I believe my boss has a Type 1 secondary (he's a Type 2), and I think that fuels our excellent relationship. He'll give me an assignment that isn't fully formed, and together we're able to come up with the right thing. It's so invigorating to me!

Potential hair closeup. Please notice how it's not flat right at my part, which is what I was struggling with before.

Hide your wives, hide your children.

I couldn't help myself on the title. My friend introduced me to Antoine Dodson, and he is awesome. I've watched that YouTube video a few too many times now...

Last night I went shopping with my mom. Shopping for both of us. She has this nasty habit of "taking me shopping" and then when we're at the store and there's something perfect for her, she refuses to buy anything for herself. Really, she's just trying to be responsible. But yesterday, I finally got to see her buy some great things for herself. One of my favorites of her purchases was a brown corduroy jacket. It's a little different than mine, but every Type 1, especially with a 3 secondary, should have a brown corduroy jacket. Well, if you like them, that is. But we found one for her at Ross with some big pointy (star points!) lapels, and it was $8.50, and it was perfect for her. Also scored last night for Mom was a purple long sleeve T with a paisley blue pattern (Kohl's), a mint green sweater (Ross), and a blue button up shirt with some really cool texture (Dress Barn). And all that for about $30! What a party it was!

Type 1ism of the day: Carol recently did a blog post about "each type on a bad day." I could see myself in the Type 1 statements, and I'm trying to work on taking responsibility when I drop the ball. Go team!

Now for today's outfit. My boyfriend likes to call this skirt and shirt my "nud-ey" outfit, because of the color, but when you combine it with the jacket and the boots, it's perfect-o. I love this outfit.

Oh, and see the curly hair?! Loving it today. Even if it is a little unruly (don't tell everyone else that it's the look I was going for.)

Sometimes I dislike this necklace, it might not be substantial enough for me. But with this outfit, it works.
