Toss and turn I Can't Sleep at Night

Did my hair with some curls. I ended up pinning them back on one side because they were always in my face, but overall, I loved having "bouncy hair." I was definitely inspired by the recent DYT video of Type 1 hands on night for October 2011, and they talked about getting volume in your hair. It's always something I can use help with.

I love this peasant shirt. Volume, circles, purple. Everything a girl wants.

Day 2: Tuck It In

Day 2 of the 21 Day Challenge

The theme today is Tuck It In. Tucking is decidedly not my forte. Even when I was young and Mom wanted my shirt tucked in so I would look all spiffed up for the 80s, I was bad at it. Today's picture proves the same thing. Since I figured I couldn't handle it all day, the tuck was admittedly only for the picture. I actually sat on the floor of my closet this morning, trying to think of something I could tuck. It almost made me late for my early meeting.

Oh and those are the alstromerias I bought today. Along with rootbeer, chocolate chip cookies, and something to pedi my summer heels. Pampered myself!

I look around but it's you I can't replace

The real reason I'm posting today is to show off my new gold sandals. I got them at the same time as my new leather flips, from Dillards, but this is the first occasion they have carried my pink toenailed feet around town. They are comfortable (the straps are elastic), sparkly, but the wedge still helps them to be more work appropriate.

The navy scoop neck - is it just me or do the necks on scoop neck shirts just get bigger and bigger? It seems that way to me.

Overall, I love this outfit. I'm in need of a haircut, or at least some styling today (it's a little flat, despite my bobby pin efforts.)

Well, happy Wednesday!

I Don't Need to Fight

Neutrals. Have you tried dark purple as a neutral? Dark purple is pretty hard to find, in my opinion, but I was able to find this great skirt through Amazon.com, and it's made in the USA! Still, when I decided today was the day for it, I wasn't entirely sure how to use it. It doesn't feel as neutral as brown, and I added the jacket to get it a little more neutral, along with the gold jewelry.

I think this has led me to believe that I need more neutrals in my wardrobe, so that I can expand what I've already got (they're like accessories!)

I've been tired and trying to get myself over some vitamin deficiencies, so less creativity has been thrown into Outfitland. Still, let's shake it up!!

When you're with me, I'm smiling

Today is my first day sporting straightening iron curls, which they show very nicely in the November 2009 Club Night video (for Dressing Your Truth members only). I recently bought the Type 1 flatiron, after NOT buying it for many months, hoping the curls would work. I've been realizing that curly hair is much truer to my nature. That explains all the childhood bad perms I used to force my mom to give me. Not that all of them were bad - just the one where mom took me to the local beauty school and they truly cooked my hair until it was finished. It was because I wanted it to be reeeeally curly, and then I was mortified afterward with how curly it was. There was no way I could hide the fact that I had a curly head, and I was quite embarrassed about it. Now I'm embracing the curly head and the extra movement it gives me! Love it!

I was in a bit of a wardrobe rut, and was wearing outfits you've already seen on the blog. The same ones. Over and over. Part of it was needing to get unpacked from moving (still can't find my favorite brown skirt, but I'll keep looking...), and part of it was probably just being tired. But here we have a fresh Friday outfit for you, with several pieces never seen before! I used to love this white button up shirt with its little silver metallic stripes. I found it professionally, but also sparkly. Oh, and this skirt. I wore it to a good friend's wedding last summer in the park, with a billowy white shirt, and I love it. It is a little snug though, and it's a tiny challenge to walk gracefully while wearing it. All in a day's work though.

Cheers! Happy Friday!

The skirt's embroidery
The whole me. Ignore the fact that the button up finds itself to be too short, and flips up a little.

Three stained bleach spots, and a hole in the knee

Yeah, sorry there's no pants on this blog. With the frigid temperatures outside, I really wish they were part of my daily wardrobe. Sadly, they're not. That's why knee-high boots are great for keeping me warm!

We got some snow on Sunday, which finally cleared out some of the fog-smog-inversion thing that happens in Utah in January. I was glad to see the clear skies, even though it was painfully COLD! And I didn't even wear a coat to church. That was a silly move. But I didn't have anything that matched well, so I skipped the coat.

Type 1ism of the day: Although I do love the colors and stuff going on in the skirt, and it's very lightweight, I'm not sure how sold I am on full length skirts. The length might be just a little too downward for me, despite the fact that it helps to keep my legs warm. Almost all of my skirts are knee length, and I think that's the direction I should continue in, even though I did thrift this skirt for like $5 or something...
