Head in the clouds

This shirt: turns out the fabric really bugs me. The fabrication was just too heavy, I could feeling it pulling downward at my shoulders. It lacks any sort of crispness to it. Can you see how it makes my shoulders look all wrong?

I've found that I shop better, and come home with better stuff that meets my needs, if I go alone. This was picked up during a really enjoyable shopping trip to Macy's with a friend. Enjoyable time, but the shirt is less than optimal.

You're gonna hear my voice

I did something today that I've been wanting to do for a while. I'm not sure how you other Type 1's feel about it, but I tend to get monochromatic for work. I don't own a lot of neutrals, and so I end up wearing jewelry that is more neutral, since my clothes are usually colors.

Here's what I wanted to do: wear jewelry in a contrasting color to my clothes.

Done.

I'm wearing my new H&M necklaces in orange and green, and to pair with that, I've got my red orange yellow swirl bracelet. I was mostly going for the orange side, but it's not like everything I wear needs to match.

I think for me it's because I'm trying to feel professional.

Party Friday, anyone?

(I'm actually having a birthday party tonight. Hopefully there will be much fun to be had there. I'm thinking of making s'more cupcakes, to go with the hotdog and marshmallow cookout theme. Not sure if that's over the top???)

I miss the earth so much

This is me today. This shirt that I got at the thrift store is perfect for a dim and rainy day. After all, polka dots add some great animation! If I had shown you a view straight from the front, you would see that it's a great shirt for looking slimmer than you are, and I can't complain about that! I used to be anti-ruffle, but here I am with a ruffle around the top half of the button placket. Yeehaw! I flip up the sleeves at the elbow, wear a white tank underneath, and this shirt practically runs the show.

I've noticed that my body physically moves randomly, especially compared to my much more calculated 2/4 boyfriend. I'm the one who's always tripping over things, bumping my thigh on the corner of a table or counter, stepping on things that shouldn't be on the floor, and bumping my face against things. Earlier this week I was leaving a downtown office building through a revolving glass door. I do this multiple times a day at my own building, but the door space is significantly wider at my building than the one I was leaving that day. I went through the door about 180 degrees worth and stepped toward the outside. WHAM! I hit my face on the curved glass wall that encased the door! I stepped back, looked around, and took a few more steps in the direction that moved the door before I could safely step out. Good thing I didn't break my glasses :).

Are you wearing anything sparkly today?

I love this bracelet so far - it does like to get caught on stuff though. Sleeves, waistbands, noses.

Running through the field, where all my tracks will be concealed

Wow, now that's a flattering shot - eyes closed! You know, photography is a process. You can also see evidence here of my great need for a haircut. I got one last night, thank goodness, and I think it's shorter than usual. I think my tuck-behind-the-ears pieces are gone. My hair grows out fast enough that ideally, it would get cut and thinned every 4 weeks.

One of the things I love as a 1/3 is corduroy. It holds its shape a bit, so it's kind of crisp, and it's a little more substantial than other fabrics. My mom got me this skirt when we were out shopping one day - did you know you can get Down East clothes at Seagull Book for 10% off their regular price? Well, you can, and it's a great deal!

Type 1ism of the day: I love going for a walk while I talk on the phone. This used to happen when I was a teenager, and we had a phone cord to deal with! I would stand at the bottom of the stairs and pace around as I talked. It really bugged my (Type 2) father, because I was wearing out the carpet and incorrectly stretching the phone cord. Now, if I get a call and I'm at home, I throw on my boots and my white puffy coat and tromp around the neighborhood. It helps me move quickly and upwardly, and see the beautiful world outside!

The one thing I don't like about this yellow shirt is that gather at the bottom. And sometimes I wonder if those split sleeves are a little too drapy (they're really not, I just have my moments).
