It's not too often that you find the perfect necklace: light enough, chunky enough, and makes a tiny tinkling sound when you move. Those are my favorite, and I've only got a few of those. This awesome necklace I found through an Amazon search and took a chance on the purchase - it turned out to be a really great find.
This is also the first time I've shown these tan, flat leather boots I got from 6pm.com. Since I bought them, I've worn them almost every other day during the colder months, and they've held up well, are comfortable, and keep me looking sharp. I also like how they click when I walk.

Girls Talk About Their Social Lives
Am I the only one that gets thoroughly bored with what I pack when I travel? I realize in the last 4 years or so, I'm likely to go clothes shopping when I'm traveling anyway, but now it's almost necessary. Got to have me some variety, and where better to find it than another city??
Last night I hit the H&M while here in Washington DC, partly to see the town, and partly because I couldn't stand to wear the same button-up shirts I had packed for another day. Thankfully, I found a few cute tops, and some new jewelry pieces. It's amazing to me how much variety I benefit from in my wardrobe (and I still try to keep it under control!)
I also got a new pair of flip flops before the trip. Last week or so, I was walking in my previous pair of Sanuk flip flops and tripped over something and the rope just ripped right out of the rubber footbed. Those had to be trashed... So, I went to return a shirt to Dillards, and look what came home with me? These leather Clark's sandals, on summer sale!
I also love H&Ms signature colors this season - orange is heavy in there! It's not often that orange is extremely popular, or that it gets a lot of wear. Thankfully, I love orange and was pleased to see it in this combination of beaded necklaces (which are stretchy and very comfortable!) Dark brown, green, and two colors of orange.
Cheers to summer!

In every condition in sickness in health
Whoa.
I've been having some mega conversations with one of my BFFs about being a Type 1. She's a 1/4, which has caused some confusion in her life. Overall, I think she's loving the journey. I'm so happy for her, and happy I finally opened my mouth and explained it to her.
I'm glad I wore this skirt today, since I love it. And the necklace I chose - a little substantial to keep me moving swiftly today. There's a lot changing in my life right now, and I wanted to be sure I could keep up :). Also, no boots today. That's been a while too!
The sun is shining, and it's a great day to be alive!
Type1ism of the day: That cheesy smile! I seem to always look like that in pictures :) Here's to April starting tomorrow. Cheers!

I absolutely love her when she smiles
I have a green pea coat. My mom bought it for me for Christmas, and we found it on mega discount at Old Navy. It was meant to be. It's kind of a Kelly green, which I love. What am I saying? I love green in most any shade. Hence my green work bag too, that I took with me to Sweden and Germany.
Well, it's Saint Patty's day, and I have no Irish ancestry whatsoever. Not detered by that, I still hitched up my green and headed to the office. I think I might be the only one in really bright green, but I have seen a lot of sage and olive around today. Maybe I can pretend I'm Irish.
I have an adorable sticker one of my coworkers gave me years ago, and it's still on my desk. It's a heart with shamrocks around it that says "I love the Irish" on the inside of the heart. She scratched out "the", and now it says "I love Trish!" How awesome is that! I guess I can be Irish since we share 4 letters of our name.
Type 1ness of the day: Oh the sun! It's been so dark the last few days with rain and overcast skies, but I am a sunshine addict! I truly am. I curl up in the sun like a cat, and go outside just to walk around in the tulips when the sun is out. It totally brightens my mood :).
Oh, and PS, this is the second time this week I've worn something tied around my waist. I think we might be on to something here. I could still use some practice on the scarf technique.
(Still need a haircut.)

You've Got to Roll with the Punches to Get to What's Real
It is bitterly cold outside, and windy. Welcome to February. Yesterday I froze, wearing my green pea coat all day at my desk. Today I decided to bundle up with a zip-up fleece jacket, and then my coat and scarf. It literally saved me, because the weatherman said the wind is making it feel like -5 degrees Fahrenheit out there. And me - I don't get to wear pants to work.
Yesterday I couldn't find my box of panty hose I had purchased, with 3 unworn pairs still inside. After many panty hose adventures, I was able to discover that buying a box of 4 "L'eggs Everyday" panty hose are relatively comfortable, cheap, and seem to last a while too. And the nude color is close enough that sometimes, I don't seem to even be wearing them! A big success in the panty hose department there. I think I bought my box of them at Walgreens, by the way.
There's actually not a lot of pop to this outfit like there should be. I supposed I could wear some gold jewelry to take it up a notch, but my current gold jewelry, except for my flower necklace and springy bracelet, has been worn too much and all that expensive "gold" has worn off. I need to find some different gold jewelry that I like and doesn't weigh too much. In the mean time, no pop for today, except for maybe my great hair. Or the hot pink fleece jacket I'm wearing around the office so that I don't turn into a popsicle.
Type 1ism of the day: Last night my best friend and I had a hilarious evening. She's also a Type 1, and lives a few doors down from me. We sat on her couch, both on our laptops, watching the Food Network, eating fun foods, and posting ridiculous messages on each others' Facebook pages. Then we would proceed to laugh and snort out loud, unrestrained and thoroughly entertained. It was a great night. :)

Here I'm dancing on the ground Am I right side up or upside down?
I mentioned the whole blowdrying issue I've been having. After a few more days of it, I think I really am actually improving at it. I really liked my hair today, and although neither of today's pictures really scream "AWESOME hair," that's how I was feeling today. Yep. Awesome hair.
This shirt is perfect-o for my 1/3 nature. The fact that it's Type 1 colors, and then has just a little edginess to its pattern, which still has roundness to it, I think, is totally perfect. My mom got it for me for my birthday (I did pick it out myself, which is always a plus). I just love it. The saddest part is that after a few washes it started to pill on the outside of the shirt, which makes the brown appear to be not as dark. Oh well. I'll wear it until it's time to retire, and then it will go away, I suppose. Oh, did I mention this shirt has a natural wrinkly texture? Looooove that.
Type 1ism of the day: I love random work assignments. I believe my boss has a Type 1 secondary (he's a Type 2), and I think that fuels our excellent relationship. He'll give me an assignment that isn't fully formed, and together we're able to come up with the right thing. It's so invigorating to me!

blue are the streets and all the trees are blue
Hola! Another day at the office my friends. One of the things that worried me about dressing like a Type 1 is that I would not be taken seriously. Like really, truly, this was a real concern for me. I have other experiences in the professional world where I knew I wasn't being taken seriously, and it was very frustrating. I wasn't sure what else to do.
The day I wore this outfit, I was on a video conference call. I was the only person in my conference room, and I was connected to a room in another city with about 5 people in it. At the beginning of the call, they zoomed in on me, since I was the only one in the room. At the front of my conference room was one large screen TV with a shot of their conference room (later it showed only what was on their LCD projector screen, instead of the whole room), and the large screen TV on the other side was just me - larger than life. It was so distracting to watch myself on TV! For most of the call, I did my best to pretend that I wasn't talking to another, larger, projected version of myself. In some ways it worked, in other ways it was "Seriously, I'm talking to myself!!" Quite the surreal experience - like a baby playing peek-a-boo, or cat seeing themselves in the mirror. Glad that's over! At the end of the call, one of the guys said "You're much more fun to have in these meetings than ---- (who usually attends)!"
I've found, based on the whole "taken more serious" thing, that people are now able to judge me accurately. They see my clothes and whole presentation of myself and they can predict how I will act. Upward and light, that's how. I might just throw my head back and laugh sometimes. I might crack jokes. I might bring a swiftness to the conversation. I might help you feel uplifted and ready to work hard on a new project. I might make you smile. Carol mentions that when people aren't living and dressing their truth, we judge them more harshly. I think this is true, and I am relieved to (hopefully) be judged more often for who I really am. This is maybe one of my favorite and most unexpected benefits of learning to Dress My Truth. I know you might be skeptical about this, but it's really true! (You'll never know unless you try.)
I love this outfit. The necklace is my favorite Type 1 necklace ever, because it's sparkly. My Type 3 secondary likes the fact that it's multi-dimensional (there is more than one strand on the necklace - didn't realize how important that was until later). Aqua is like a signature Type 1 color. I wish I could find a sweater in aqua, but I guess clothing designers think it's not a winter color. Pshaw! The skirt is a go-to business skirt for me. It looks great with everything. It even has a "slimming panel" in the front, which is weird and hilarious at the same time. And might possibly help me look skinny, really reflecting my true body that I love.
Type 1ism of the day: I am fully admitting right here that I like to drive fast. It's actually something I need to work on, since it can be dangerous at times. I love a good race-car-driver experience. A few months back I got to drive a rental car in Milan, Italy, and it was perfect for my Type 1 nature. They don't really use lanes, they just wind in and out and fit into tiny spaces. Hoo-rah!

Now the morning sun is shining
Howdy friends!
Type 1ism of the day: Last night I was heading out for a friend's house and left dinner boiling on the stove. It was on a fine heat, and when I came home, it was perfect. No need to supervise though!
I'm trying something...I found that I can take full length pictures in this little place at work.
I love this outfit! I love the combination of peach and red together. I love the print of the skirt (which you can hardly see in this picture). I love my new boots - they have the perfect heel height, and a cool buckle on the outside of the boot. And the walnut color is beautiful. I guess I need some better lighting though, so I'll work on that. :)
