Turned you into someone new

This skirt has been waiting to bust out the closet! You see, I wasn't sure it was Type 1 enough. I bought it multiple years ago, long before Dressing My Truth. It's purple with a blue undertone and gold iridescent in the right light. (Gold!!) It's got an asymmetrical cut that flares when you move. It's corduroy (which I love!)

I kept seeing it hanging in my closet, since I never got rid of it. My "beauty sixth sense" was excited to wear it, to have something that was so flared on the bottom and remember how much fun I have when I wear it. So, I embraced the sixth sense and went for it. I think I hesitated because I used to wear this with a black shirt, every time. Always the black shirt. Now that I don't wear a black shirt for anything short of becoming the queen, I had to work with the accessories a bit, but I think the other purple items work well with it (too bad you can't see my necklace, it snuck under my collar).  I'm loving it!

I also love the gold scarf around my waist. This was one of my first DYT purchases - out looking for something gold to throw into the wardrobe. It's gotten a lot of wear since then, and I'm glad it's made an appearance today. I think it goes well with a relatively neutral outfit.

Oh, and my Type 1ness today: I have put my foot in my mouth 3 days in a row! First to my boyfriend, then my good friend who was at my house for a visit, then on a business call today! Sometimes I wonder where my filter is. It's okay to remember that sometimes the random comes out of my mouth - and thankfully, these people love me and honor me!

I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down

Hoo-rah! I love that I feel like my closet has hit "critical mass." You know, that point where you have enough of the right clothes that there are almost endless possibilities? Pretty enticing for a Type 1, eh?

What do you think about how many clothing items you need? Especially as a Type 1? I feel like it was a challenge to get there, especially because I have to wear skirts 6 days of the week. Finding Type 1 skirts can surely be a challenge, but I feel like I've found some good ones. My best luck of all has been thrifting actually - I find great ones all the time, and many more that aren't in my size.

Type 1ism of the day: I remember Marcy talking about being a Type 1 and looking up at the sky. How centering it is for a Type 1. I completely agree. I'm the girl you find in the park, laying on my back and watching the clouds move. Since I work on the 5th floor of a high-rise office building, there's a great view of downtown. Too bad I don't have a window of my own. But there's a particular one I like to wander over to in the afternoons and look at the clouds against the mountains. This is a great way to center yourself as a Type 1 - go look out the window, look UP for a few minutes, and you'll feel a lot better. Ready to tackle your over-booked day! :)

Got this great skirt while thrifting on Saturday, along with the striped one I wore in the last post. I'm also wearing my Como Italy belt - I got it at the street market there in September. I've always wanted to pull off a belt like this, and I feel like this is my first success attempt. I balanced it with the gold necklace, and the sparkly skirt. I think not having a patterned shirt made it easier. Oh, and it's a little weird to say, but these type of belts fit best/work best when you have clothes on that aren't "giving you a muffin top" at all. Keep an eye out for that one :)!

Here's the sparkle detail on my skirt
This is the great hip belt I got in the city of Como, Italy. I was there in September for work, and we stopped at the street market to look around. This was my prized find. And, I finally feel like I am wearing it "correctly." Yee-haw!

It's crazy, I'm thinking, just knowing that the world is round

It's mega ultra cold outside. It makes it painful to go out there! I wore panty hose again to help me be a little warmer in there, because wow - I thought my legs were going to fall off!

I got a chance to talk a walk several blocks downtown, in my Fossil boots. They were super comfortable, and I felt really swanky swishing down the street. The only thing is I like them so much I have trouble not wearing them every day. I really believe in rotating shoes, because my feet hurt if I wear the same pair too many days in a row. I had to resort to my shearling boots (which are more casual) for the last few days, in order to be warm and dry, but still rotating footwear.

Also of note is that I was actually able to blowdry my hair and make it look decent. I got a giant round brush, but I struggle to handle the round brush and the blowdrier, and be able to grab a section of hair to put onto the brush. What I got going on here was a pretty successful round brush excursion.

Type 1ism of the day: My interest in adapting to the circumstance. It happens all the time. We aim to please! I've been thinking about that today. Hmm. I need to head off and have some fun and move on from all this thinking.
