Your hand grips hand as my eyes shut

We went to a concert with all the hip kids - well, maybe all the drunken, less-intelligent kids - and I wanted to look good. I had purchased these pants (about 1.5 sizes smaller than I would normally buy in jeans, not because I suddenly need smaller jeans, but because Old Navy sizes are so generous) and this was my chance to try it all out.

So this was my first attempt with these fuzzy suede Skecher boots that I knew had a wide enough circumference to accommodate the pant legs. It looks decent, even though I wished the boot shaft was taller on these boots.

And a little more casual than the full leather look. Aaaaand, it might be too fall to wear these distinctly winter boots.

Then, genius struck. All of my other boots have slim shafts, too slim to fit too much bulk between my leg and boot. But, I discovered that if I pulled a pair on regular ladies calf socks OVER the opening of my pant leg, and then pulled on the boots, they would slide right over the bottom of the pant leg without a problem at all.

I told my friend I should write tutorials on how to attempt to look cool after college. I think I'm on to something there.

Also, gold scarf from the Michaels craft store aisle endcap as I was walking by one day? Has become a wardrobe staple for me. And it goes really nicely with my gold resin bracelet that I bought online from Color by Amber, wanting a gold bracelet that is comfortable and doesn't tarnish. This turns out to be the way to go - gold sparkles with resin around them. So comfortable and wearable, and will stay gold for a very long time.

Skinny jeans: Old Navy
Gold resin bracelet: Color by Amber
Boots with fur tops (top 2 pictures): Thrifted (Skechers)

I'll be with you forever I found

What I wear to funerals isn't very traditional, but I don't follow rules very often. Since there's no black around here, I like the idea of dark brown and green, the colors of earth and life.

This skirt gets worn at least once a week at work, maybe as often as three times a week. Because it's so stretchy, but still crisply holds its shape, it's perfectly comfortable, sleek, and wearable. I'll be sad when it gets threadbare and I can't wear it anymore.

I love my North Face rain jacket, which came out on this day because of the rain and because it was cold and windy. It's s real rubbery nylon. One day after a big rainstorm, I was dragging big broken branches around the backyard and it got muddy. I walked over to the hose and cleaned up really quickly - so easy. It's nice to have something that doesn't stain with my "active lifestyle" - not to mention keeps the rain off and keeps me warm.

Brown 3/4 sleeve shirt: George (thrifted)
Green shell necklace: Amazon
Brown flare skirt: Amazon
Blue rain jacket: North Face from a cool consignment shop in Park City
Warm brown leather boots: Zappos
