Day 5: Belt It

Day 5 of the 21 Day Challenge

Today's challenge was to belt it, which I adore. I have a much greater preference for hip belts than for give-yourself-a-muffin-top belts, so that's what I went with. It's actually a scarf, and I do love this outfit. Lots of sparkle going on with the sequin skirt, the scarf with gold threads, my massive arm full of bangles, and the gold necklace.

All tied together with a very emo photo pose.

Day 4: Color Blocking

Day 4 of the 21 Day Challenge

Yesterday's theme (which I was too tired to post yesterday) was Color Blocking. I had to google this to get an idea of what was going on, but this one tripped me up a bit because it's what I wear a lot. I actually ended up with an outfit that was much more subdued than what I normally wear (think Barbie and the Rockers Goes to the Office), but I love the cool colors with the gray skirt. And I loved wearing shoes that didn't cut into the back of my very sore heels.

Shell necklace: a friend brought it from Hawaii
Aqua T: Costco
Dark green hoodie: Nordstrom's Rack
Brown and blue rocky bead bracelet: Francesca's Collections
Gray ruffle skirt: H&M Brussels

Day 3: Mixing Prints

Day 3 of the 21 Day Challenge

Today's theme is Mixing Prints. I found I had to differentiate between prints and textures, because I was all pumped to bust out some different textures together. But, then I remembered they are actually different things. Thus was born the flower skirt and the flower shoe.
One word about the flower shoes. I just got these from Francesca's Collections, a site I actually like for their accesories, and these shoes are miserable! I ordered a half size smaller than my foot size, because it's all there was, and it turns out even ordering small, these shoes are not stiff enough to actually stay on my feet! I put them on this morning, and couldn't even get to the living room without them falling off!

So I tried my new pair from Nordstrom's Rack, some nude flats with rhinestones. By the time I arrived at my desk, I had blood dripping from my heels. A few bandaids from my coworker and I was able to hobble through the day, but let's just say I'd rather be barefoot today!

Day 2: Tuck It In

Day 2 of the 21 Day Challenge

The theme today is Tuck It In. Tucking is decidedly not my forte. Even when I was young and Mom wanted my shirt tucked in so I would look all spiffed up for the 80s, I was bad at it. Today's picture proves the same thing. Since I figured I couldn't handle it all day, the tuck was admittedly only for the picture. I actually sat on the floor of my closet this morning, trying to think of something I could tuck. It almost made me late for my early meeting.

Oh and those are the alstromerias I bought today. Along with rootbeer, chocolate chip cookies, and something to pedi my summer heels. Pampered myself!

Day 1: Remix One Item

So, I read a fashion blog - Freckles in April - that is playing a GAME. And well, if there's a game available, I'll play it. It's a 21 day challenge, with a dressing prompt every day. I love me a surprise!

Today's challenge was to choose a piece of clothing that I'm going to remix two more times during the 21 day challenge. I chose this white eyelet skirt. It's perfectly neutral, but I think this is only the second time I've worn it, and I wear skirts 6 days a week! So, I'll be able to squeeze in a few more uses of it before eyelet is a little too summery. I don't really believe in "summer clothes" and "winter clothes", but eyelet might be one of those things that is more firmly in the summer category.

I'd also like to say that today's picture turned out well, except for I totally over-cheesed. Oh well. Maybe 21 days will improve my photography, too.

I'd be safe and warm

I haven't worn this skirt for a very long while, possibly since I've been blogging about living my truth.
It's the kind of skirt that I'm not sure is a true 10 on the 0-10 scale of awesomeness, and it's likely because it's too high contrast for a Type 1. Still, on a sunny day like today, it seems to fit the bill, and I went with it.

I've noticed some negative things in my life recently, and they are probably of my own creation. It's been a struggle to first realize that there were negative feelings and emotions building up, determine how I went about creating the situation, and think about how I was going to resolve it. One of the things that's helped me with this is a mini-healing session video Carol did recently with a beautiful Type 1, where they talked about "choosing to be happy now," and how the Type 1 energy is most closely aligned with happiness. It really perked me up. Here's to taking good care of ourselves!

You're gonna hear my voice

I did something today that I've been wanting to do for a while. I'm not sure how you other Type 1's feel about it, but I tend to get monochromatic for work. I don't own a lot of neutrals, and so I end up wearing jewelry that is more neutral, since my clothes are usually colors.

Here's what I wanted to do: wear jewelry in a contrasting color to my clothes.

Done.

I'm wearing my new H&M necklaces in orange and green, and to pair with that, I've got my red orange yellow swirl bracelet. I was mostly going for the orange side, but it's not like everything I wear needs to match.

I think for me it's because I'm trying to feel professional.

Party Friday, anyone?

(I'm actually having a birthday party tonight. Hopefully there will be much fun to be had there. I'm thinking of making s'more cupcakes, to go with the hotdog and marshmallow cookout theme. Not sure if that's over the top???)
